[Chiaki smiles brightly at seeing the assigned mother of some of her schoolmates on the screen. They didn't see each other around much, but she'd really liked her when they met.]

... I think everyone did. I haven't been able to sell anything, though... most of the kids at school don't have a lot of money, and everyone at Honeybee is already buying sweets.

[She's pretty sure it's not allowed to buy from your own catalog, too.]

[Yes, it is sounding like everyone got the dang things.]

That would be a problem, I reckon. Why don't I buy something from you then? Maybe a peach pie...

Really? Thank you... that's really nice.

[She's a little surprised - the peach pie is one of the biggest items! She hadn't expected Lily to be that willing to help out.]

Ah... but if you're buying that, then I'll buy something from you, too.

Are you sure? You don't have to unless you really want the sweets.

[With how Chiaki had mentioned the other children not having much money to spend, she assumes it might be the same in her case. So, she doesn't want the girl to feel pressured to buy anything.]

It's okay... I can afford to buy a few things.

[She really can. Having a job plus being a child whose original parents spoiled her rotten gave her plenty of savings to work with, even with all her video game spending.]

The strawberry chocolate cake looks nice, but it's not a lot... maybe I could buy a dozen doughnuts, too?

[After Lily's choice of a whole pie, she's not about to just buy one slice of cake from her and leave it at that!]

All right. But which type of donuts did you want? There were several kinds...

[And she's referring to her catalog now, looking for the page with the donut flavors.]

But I think those yellow glazed ones would be best avoided.

[They're even described as suspicious! What if eating them made you sick or something?!]

I think... I want half chocolate drizzle, and half princess sprinkles.

[Sometimes, she makes decisions that remind people she's literally five years old. No matter how she looks.]

Okay, let me write that down. I reckon you should fill out the form for the pie too.

[And she's looking around for a pen so she can fill in the order form. Ah, ha! She pulls one out from under some papers and starts to write.]

Ah... right!

[She nearly forgot, she'd been so stunned that Lily would order the pie! It takes her a minute to find the form, but once she does, she starts filling in the order immediately.]

Let's see... one... peach pie...

[And Lily finishes her own form.]

I guess that's it then. Whoever delivers all these things seems to be really fast.

[She's found stuff in the mailbox later in the day when ordering from other folks before.]

It's magic. ... Probably.

[Okay, it's not like she knows that's what it is, but it makes sense.]

Maybe... [There were certainly enough strange things that happened around here that magic seemed like a definite possibility.]

I reckon if someone waited by the mailbox for their delivery, they could find out.

I tried that once... but I fell asleep. ... Mama had to carry me inside...

[She's pretty convinced the mailboxes are magic, but that brings up another curious thought.]

I wonder if the Landlord sends things like this himself...? Or maybe they come from the other people in town? The ones that act like generic NPCs.

Huh. I guess it might not be instant magical delivery then.

[And she blinks in confusion at the mention of NPCs. Because she's not exactly familiar with video games.]

NPCs? What are those? I reckon there might be a mail carrier although I've never seen them myself.

Like the people who don't stick out or talk very much... the ones that don't come from other worlds here.

I've never seen a mail carrier either... if they're here, they must be really fast.

So, the locals. They do seem kind of dull and gray, even the ones who work at my shop.

[She's still not sure what NPC is short for but she shrugs.]

Or maybe, they deliver stuff at night. I keep finding new bags of clothes to be sorted through at the shop when I arrive in the mornings. Almost as if elves are leaving them for me!

[Chiaki seems satisfied that Lily understands that much! She doesn't even think to explain the abbreviation, but maybe someday she'll mention it offhand...]

... Don't some adults stay up really late? Someone might have seen them.

[She took that one hundred percent seriously.]

I reckon some do. [She's a night owl herself even if there's no staying up to brew spells at the witching hour here.] But I've never tried to camp out at the shop or watch the mailbox.

[She chuckles.] Kind of like the fairy tale about the elves and the shoemaker. Have you ever read that one, Chiaki?

[Fairy tales, you say? She's heard of a few in her time here! Color her interested!]

I don't think so...

Is there a princess in that one?

[All of the other fairy tales she's heard have princesses in them.]

[Lily shakes her head, smiling at the girl's interest.]

No, there isn't a princess in that one even if they're popular in the more well known fairy tales. This one is about a poor shoemaker, his wife, and some elves that come to help them at night.

Oh...

[Well, that's a shame about the princesses, but they can't be in every fairy tale. That'd be like expecting every video game to have one, wouldn't it?]

What did the elves help them with?

The elves would help sew together shoes from the pieces of leather that he cut out before he went to sleep at night. Kind of like how someone seems to be helping by leaving clothes at my shop overnight.

[That's why it brought the comparison to mind.]

[Oh... she understands now!]

... Maybe it really is elves? I've met one here before. ... But she doesn't seem like the same kind of elf...

You've met an elf? [She blinks in surprise. But then a woman she talked to had mentioned something about an elf shortly after she arrived, right? She'd nearly forgotten about it... Well, and what she said about demons had stuck in her mind more.]

Only one... and she's human now.
