[Chiaki unconsciously lets herself drift closer to Rahzel as the other girl leads her inside. She really wants to be close to her... after what happened.]

Thanks for letting me come over. ... It's lonely in my room...

[Oh, dear. She hasn't referred to it as "her" room ever since Mary moved in.]

[ She hugs the other girl back, joy evident in her laugh. ]

It's good to see you, too! [ Kobato kisses Chiaki's cheek as they separated. ] I have something to give you but close your eyes, okay?

Maybe, maybe not. We'll just let them decide once they find out you've been telling them big fat lies.

hells penguins??? so they swam through fire instead and COULD fly through wayward souls? that sounds like a....very informative visit （`･⊝･´ ） [That sounds like some crazy tv show but....but Rahzel believes her. If Chiaki says it happened, she knows it did] blueberry and chocolate, noted! if your papa enjoys carrot cake i'll include that too. i like chocolate and vanilla and also strawberry short cake

[Rahzel's heart immediately goes out to her, honing in on that word lonely and her tone. She continues to lead her over to the couch where she still gently tugs her into a seat, plopping down next to her before finally opening her mouth:]

No problem at all. Really. I'm sorry you were feeling lonely, but you're here now and I won't let you be alone, okay?

[Rahzel offers her a reassuring smile, pats her arm]

[She does give a small smile, and seem a little more hopeful at that.]

[Suddenly, she snuggles in next to Rahzel and leans her head on the other girl's shoulder. She just needs to be close to her sister for a moment...]

... I'm glad you're still here, Rahzel-neechan.

[More like a very weird game she played! Chiaki may be a little better at distinguishing between reality and fantasy compared to other kids her 'age', but she hasn't mastered the ability to do it in words yet.]

Strawberry short cake? I'd like to try that, too. I think.

And can we have ice cream, too? Maybe we could even play some games together when we're not visiting the animals.

[She's certainly reaching for the stars in this party planning!]

[Junko's timing on this couldn't have been more perfect. With Chiaki's sister gone, she's feeling lonely and vulnerable and right now she's tired of dealing with this conversation. And maybe a little terrified that Junko's right, and she'll lose her most precious friends in an even worse way than how she lost Mary.

She's not even going to respond right now. In fact, she's probably running to find her mother for some much-needed hugs.]

[Oh gosh, she's blushing a little now. Only Mama's ever kissed her on the cheek like that before! But Kobato's her big sister and the next person she'd rely on to take care of her when Mama and Papa aren't around, so it's okay.]

Ah... okay.

[Facing Kobato and nodding, she obediently closes her eyes.]

[Chiaki, usually people say that before they follow instructions...]

[She takes the sudden snuggles in stride, even wrapping an arm around Chiaki, then leans her cheek on the top of her head. The smile is a good sign, and if her little sister needs cuddles then Rahzel is happy to give them, give her this comfort she needs

Her statement makes her pause, though not for very long.] Me too, Chiaki-chan. I'm happy to be here too. I'm happy you're here.

strawberry short cake is delicious! i think, since you like blueberry, you'll enjoy your strawberry shortcake experience. though not every berry is the same ;) ABSOLUTELY! you can't have a birthday with all that cake and not have ice cream, that'd be a crime! what kind of games do you want to play? stuff like red rover and tag or?

I know tag and hide-and-seek! I've never played red rover...

[She was honestly thinking of video games and board games as well as outdoor games, but those sound a lot easier to play at the zoo.]

Is that like the books with the big red dog at school?

[She gives a small sigh, staying snuggled up to Rahzel as much as she possibly can.]

I'll miss having a sister living with me, I think... even though Rahzel-neechan and Kobato-neechan are still here.

big red OH clifford! i didnt know you liked clifford! [Filing that away for later] its...sort of like that but mostly you get in two teams and you all hold hands and the one team says that line, red rover red rover i call so and so over, and they try to pass through their linked hands and its basically trying to get as many people as you can on YOUR team. its kinda fun. but we can play whatever you want, chiaki <3

[Rahzel makes a sympathetic noise, runs the palm of one hand up and down Chiaki's shoulder comfortingly]

I'm sorry, Chiaki. I know it just isn't the same, being in such close quarters and sharing like that it's...it's kind of special. But it'll be alright. It really will be.

Yeah... I think it'd be fun having a big dog like that. Mama has a lion she rides around on sometimes, but he's not that big.

[He's still pretty big, though!]

Red rover sounds fun too. I want to try as many games as we can!

[It sounds kind of hollow as agreements go, but she's survived losing close friends before. It probably will be alright, even though she'll be sad for a while.]

[She knows she can always see Rahzel during the day if she visits the high school, or at work. But maybe her room won't feel so empty all the time if Rahzel comes over and visits once in a while?]

[Her heart all but lurches and clenches, the combination of Chiaki's tone and words Super Effective. Though she knows she can't just fix this, knows what it's like losing someone, it doesn't help the flair of protective feelings. She cards her fingers through Chiaki's hair soothingly, her voice soft]

Of course I'll come visit. A whole wild herd of mamas couldn't keep me away. I'll come see you whenever you want me to, all you have to do is call. I might even pop up out of the blue.

['I won't leave you alone.']

[Maybe she can't fix it, as much as either of them might wish she could. But she can definitely help, if only by being there for Chiaki like she always is.]

[From the tone in her voice, and the way she's snuggling up to Rahzel even more, she's starting to seem sleepy. And sure enough, almost as soon as the words are out, she's dozing off. Either she really needed the rest, or, well... Chiaki could fall asleep at any time, really. It's entirely possible she'll wake up in the next five minutes. But that might depend on what Rahzel does with her suddenly napping baby sis, too.]

His name is Leon. I don't know if he's friendly like Clifford, but he seems nice. Mama says he's very protective of us.

[She hits 'send' on that first, before answering the second part.]

Yeah... it sounds like a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to it.

Chia- [Her fingers stop threading through her hair when the girl trails off, a puzzled look morphing into a fond smile when its apparent Chiaki's been struck by the Sand Man.

Rahzel decides her little sister needs her rest, further deciding not to move. She'll just keep watch, try not to focus on how warm and comfortable she is, try not to nod off...Rahzel does have enough sense to soundlessly tug a blanket over Chiaki, careful not to disturb her. She deserves this rest, afterall.]

Leon the lion, huh. That's quite noble and if hes protective of you guys then I trust him to have your backs! just not for dinner ;) I bet he has that quiet kind of friendliness if anything. its going to be so so SO fun, I just know it! I'm happy you're looking forward to it

He's very quiet, yeah.
